The Coffee Dinner & Coffee Summit, held by the Brazilian Exporters Coffee Council (Cecafé), reaches its 8th edition in 2019 with a record number of sponsors. Recognized as one of the main events in the global coffee agribusiness, this year’s edition counts on the support of INTL FCStone, Pinhalense, Federação dos Cafeicultores do Cerrado Mineiro, Cooxupé and Olam Coffee.

The 8th “Coffee Dinner & Coffee Summit” will take place on May 28-29, in São Paulo (SP). This year’s topic is “Brazilian Coffees: Quality with Sustainability”. This is how the exporting business shows the importance of its sustainability agenda throughout the event.

On the first day, the Coffee Dinner will be held in Sala São Paulo, at Estação da Luz, as of 7p.m. This is a renowned gala dinner, when Cecafé pays tribute to bodies and leaderships that contribute to the strengthening of Brazilian coffee growing.

Such efforts in pursuit of the social, environmental, and economic development of the coffee agribusiness take gender equality into consideration and the importance of Brazilian women for the industry. In this context, Cecafé will pay tribute to the “Coffee Women”, a category that encompasses examples of female leadership in Exports, Industry, Production, Research and Special Coffees.

Since 2006, Cecafé has been spreading knowledge to producers in several country regions, also offering women digital inclusion opportunities and access to good farming practices, news on weather and prices, and information for them to manage their properties well, aiming to reduce the barriers these women face to lead and manage rural properties.

Until the end of 2019, the Informed Producer Program will have trained more than 6K rural producers. In 2017, Cecafé launched the Informed Producer Portal for the program planning and management, having enrolled approximately 3.5K producers online. With the program’s efforts towards gender equity in recent years, women have shown significant growth and already account for almost 30% of participants in the Program.

The second part of the “Coffee Dinner & Coffee Summit” will take place on May 29th. The Coffee Summit will bring three discussion panels to Hotel Renaissance São Paulo. They will approach themes like macroeconomic prospects, consumer trends, routes to Asia and, of course, Brazilian coffee growing sustainability.

The Executive Director of the Global Coffee Platform will speak in the Sustainability Panel, approaching its Member Initiatives. Brazil takes a leading role in some of these initiatives, particularly in the Correct and Safe Use of Agrochemicals, with the support of the roasting and agrochemical industries and research and rural extension agencies.

The session will also discuss new training actions for rural producers and initiatives for women inclusion in rural properties management.

The Sustainability panel will also have two other topics, encompassing Neumann Foundation and Embrapa Territorial, focusing on family succession, managing small properties, and environmental conservation in rural properties.
