In times of Covid-19, Cecaf\u00e9 has been actively involved with the coffee sector, promoting debates and campaigns, and facing the Covid-19 situation in a responsible manner. Experts, governments, class associations, exporters and cooperatives have prepared documents and manuals with recommendations about Covid-19, based on the WHO guidelines.<\/p>\n
All these risk mitigation actions throughout the coffee sector should be duly shown to importer countries, roasters and consumers around the world. With the impacts of Covid-19, confidence in products and transparency of information are increasingly relevant.<\/p>\n
To address such needs, the so-called 3S initiative was formed \u2013 sustainability, health and sanity.<\/p>\n
Cecaf\u00e9, as a legitimate representative of coffee exporters in Brazil, has been engaged in learning about and spreading the integration of actions and all good practices adopted for mitigation of Covid-19 risks in the field, warehouses and logistics.<\/p>\n
Through a series of “Lives”, Cecaf\u00e9 presents the crop scenario, export statistics, sustainability and good practices in the pandemic.![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.cecafe.com.br\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/print-capa.jpg\")

In its first edition, which took place on July 2 last, Cecaf\u00e9 held a live streaming on its social media (YouTube, Facebook and Instagram) to discuss the overall expectations for the new crop, with topics such as the pace of coffee harvesting and trading, coffee bean quality, Brazilian coffee sustainability and the good practices for the entire chain during the pandemic, highlighting protocols with workers, risk mitigation actions, awareness, information and education.<\/p>\n
The discussion included Nelson Carvalhaes, Cecaf\u00e9\u2019s Chairman, and representatives of the main coffee regions in Brazil: Mr. Francisco Sergio de Assis \u2013 President of the Cerrado Coffee Growers Federation (Cerrado Mineiro); Mr. Carlos Augusto Rodrigues de Melo – President of Cooxup\u00e9 (Sul de Minas); Mr. S\u00e9rgio Cotrim D’Alessandro \u2013 Specialty Coffee Producer and Consultant (Matas de Minas); Mr. Carlos Yoshiyuki Sato – President of the Coffee Growers Cooperative (COCAPEC) (Mogiana Paulista); Mr. Silvio Leite – CEO Agricaf\u00e9 (Bahia); Mr. M\u00e1rcio Candido Ferreira – President of the Coffee Trade Center of Vit\u00f3ria (CCCV) (Esp\u00edrito Santo); Mr. Enrique Anast\u00e1cio Alves – Embrapa Researcher (Rond\u00f4nia).<\/p>\n
With over 2,000 views, the discussions were divided into three blocks, and there was still time for the guests to answer several questions, adding strategic information to the topics of interest to all segments of Brazilian and world coffee.<\/p>\n
Continuing the work of communication to the whole market, the second “Live” will have as its central theme the “the 2019\/20 Crop Year Closing: Analysis of the Brazilian coffee export performance and general information on the global coffee market”, to be held on July 16, 2020, from 5:00 \u2013 7:00pm on YouTube and available on Cecaf\u00e9 institutional website.<\/p>\n
For this edition, Cecaf\u00e9 will extend the discussion to Minister Alexandre Pe\u00f1a Ghisleni, Director of the Department for Agribusiness Promotion, to talk about the role of Itamaraty in promoting the Brazilian Coffee Agribusiness. Also present will be members of the Cecaf\u00e9 Board of Directors, representing multinational and national companies and cooperatives.<\/p>\n

In the other editions, Cecaf\u00e9 will cover issues related to Brazilian logistics directly with the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarc\u00edsio Gomes de Freitas, and representatives from Brazil\u2019s agribusiness and the National Congress. The agenda of this important discussion will include structural reforms, the concession panorama, challenges in Brazilian infrastructure and the issue of port costs in Brazil.<\/p>\n

Finally, Cecaf\u00e9 will also promote a “Live” session for a deep dive into issues related to the sustainability of Brazilian coffee agribusiness. The aim is to invite specialists in the most relevant topics for the sector, exporters and other segments of the coffee agribusiness, in order to bring knowledge to all stakeholders involved in coffee production and marketing.<\/p>\n
Cecaf\u00e9 is pleased to collaborate proactively with the entire sector, certain that joint collaboration will bring benefits to the entire Brazilian coffee agribusiness.<\/p>\n
